Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about stencils and curb painting kits. We hope they are helpful to you.

• What are the stencils made of?

  The stencils are made of polyethylene plastic, which means they are light weight and very durable. They do not wear out. Because they are flexible, they conform easily to rounded curb surfaces.

• Can I get stencils made of heavier material?

  The weight of our stencil material offers the best balance between cost, durability and the ability to offer graphics with certain detail. Heavier materials would drive up the cost of the stencils yet, as stencils, they would function the same.

• What size are the graphics and numbers?

  The background templates paint paint a background that is 5" tall. The numbers are 4" tall when painted. The graphics are as big as they can be and still fit on a 5" x 5" background.   If you have a different use in mind for the graphics and want a larger size, they can be scaled up to about 12". The extra cost is proportionate to the extra size, so graphic twice the size would be roughly twice the cost.

• Can I use the stencils more than once?

  Absolutely. The stencils are made from a highly durable polyester material. You can use them over and over again to keep your curb address looking crisp and new.

• What about custom stencils?

  We do design and produce custom graphics. Send us a picture of what you have in mind and we would be happy to provide you with a quote. Depending on complexity, custom graphics typically cost $20 to $35 to design and produce the first stencil. 

• What kind of paint should I use?

  Any quality spray paint will work. We recommend Krylon brand paints because they are forgiving, fast drying, come in many nice colors and are readily available.

• Is Krylon paint reflective?

  There are very few truly reflective paints on the market. The few we have seen are brush applied only and very expensive. Most spray paints have a certain reflective quality to them, especially when contrasting colors are used. Express Your Address kits come with glass reflector beads that may be applied to your address, if desired. These are the same glass beads used for painting stripes on airport runways and highway stripes.
